Well done Toshiba; Good product ; Reputable name; Competitive price.
I checked extensively before buying! I find low price at Amazon.co.uk. I saw the same model in a well known store for £400 more than i paid, well done amazon.

* This is the reviews I found out about Toshiba 40BV801B 40-inch LCD TV
I wanted a 32inch TV with 1080 and HD freeview, with great features, easy to use and also also not being some little known brand. This is the best and most competitively priced you will find. Especially if you watch amazon for a few days and catch it on a cheap day.
It arrived in two days, before even my account was debited! Straight out the box, stand attached, smart looking and a few minutes later - hey presto better viewing than on my 42inch top of the range Panasonic plasma which is only 18 months old and cost 3 times the price! Gutted!
Whilst I agree with "full throttle" the menu is a little slow to react, its better than any other supermarket shelf TV, which will be the same price if not more, the likes of which
should be avoided - honestly what make is that you say?!! But at least it keeps the channel you were watching volume on whilst the program menu is displayed so you can still hear what you were watching and decide to go back if you hear something good.
If you don't mind 50Hz refresh, then this is a great TV.
You are one click away, hope this helps you!

The TV is realy good for watching films as the menu of sound efects is good. It was quite surprised to how sharp the HD was in TV mode. It has lots of ways conecting other things to it. Like a usb stick port to listen to music or play the photos you have took witch i have fouund usefull.

The 40" version arrived this morning and I've just hung it on the wall. Overall, I'm impressed - the Freeview HD picture is fantastic, though still only very few channels.
The picture is a definite improvement on our last TV (5 year old no-name 32" that cost £500 in its day) as is the sound. I'm not sure what people are expecting from the built-in speakers, but these are perfectly adequate if you ask me - perhaps not the best bass ever, but you have to crank things up pretty loud before any inadequacy becomes apparent.
As already mentioned, you need to turn 'power saving' off to get a decently bright picture. Presumably doing so makes a mockery of the quoted power figures on the box, but if you're that bothered about power consumption, you probably went for a better rated unit anyway.
I agree that the remote looks rather dated, but it'll be spending most of its time in the drawer as long as we can get the Sky remote to work all of the important features. As for power-on, I've counted roughly ten seconds from pressing the button to getting a picture and sound.
I have one minor niggle and one huge criticism. Niggle first: Why no bolts for the wall mounting? I took the fittings off our old TV, but the screws were the wrong diameter. Serious criticism second: If you mount this TV flat to the wall (rather than on an arm or just using the stand) most of the connectors become near impossible to access. I've used slightly longer bolts and some spacing nuts and there's just room to squeeze my hand up behind the TV and get to the sockets. Annoyingly, there seems to be one part of the case moulding that serves only to make access to this panel more difficult with the TV on the wall. This was a criticism of many flat screen TVs around 3-4 years ago, and I'd have thought that most manufacturers would have learned by now. Even my 5 year old set has the connectors on the underside rather than the rear.
This ridiculous piece of design costs it a star, but 4 out of 5 ain't bad.
